If you didn’t read my last post, I had a WordPress emergency. I’ve gotten it back to about 90%, but the most recent images are in a strange state. I have to decide what (or if) I want to do anything about it.

Monday was Halloween. We spent the evening having pizza and salad with friends while we handed out candy to the trick-or-treaters. We had to drug our dogs because they bark ferociously at anybody at the door and have a lot of anxiety. The meds hit Rubi really hard for some reason. Usually it doesn’t seem to affect her at all, but this time she was super out of it. They always work on Izzy, but she weighs less than 10lbs so it doesn’t take much.

At work, I had to head to one of my company’s other buildings this week to take care of something. Even though it’s just down the road (and across a busy street), I usually drive because I’m a lazy American. This week it was super nice and I needed a break from people, so I decided to walk. It was a lovely little 15 minute stroll each way and I’m glad I did it. I’ll have to do that whenever the weather cooperates.

Friday was National Fountain Pen day. If you know me, you know I’m a fairly new amateur fountain pen enthusiast. When we were in Portland a few weeks ago, the wife bought me a pocket fountain pen I’d been eyeing for a while. Sometime last week I lost it. I had it loose in my pocket with my keys and guess it fell out when I pulled out my keys while running errands. The wife bought me a replacement and it arrived on National Fountain Pen day! How perfect. I now keep this pen IN my wallet so it can’t come out randomly. I also cleaned a bunch of pens and swapped out the ones I’d been using with some I haven’t used in a while.

This weekend, the wife and I had a date night. We went to historic Occoquan for dinner and walked around the town and park. Weather was perfect. Then we went to Barnes and Noble for a chai latte and browsed the books. We also went for a walk around Burke Lake then picked up coffee at 29th Parallel Coffee and bagels. I started building the Lego my son bought me for my birthday too. I only got about halfway through this weekend and will have to finish it next weekend.

  1. We skipped Halloween and trick-or-treaters this year. George doesn’t like all the noise and commotion so we stayed out until we thought it was safe to come home. It did feel a little sad to miss out on the fun, though.
