Random People in Our Lives

I visited a Peet’s Coffee the other day. I hadn’t been to that particular store in ages. The wife and I used to stop in to that store at least once per week for morning coffee. Enough times that we knew the baristas by name and they knew us and our orders.

Then jobs changed, COVID struck, life moved on.

None of the baristas were the same. It felt like a completely different store as I stood there waiting for my drinks. Familiar, yet different. A very odd sensation. It made me think about the people that drift in and out of our lives throughout the years. Some we feel close to but don’t really know. Some we get to know very well but just lose touch.

I wonder what those people are doing now? I hope life has treated them well.
