2023 Project 52 – 31/52

Our trip spilled over into week 31 with our final day in Portland. We took the son to the Japanese Garden in Washington Park, then we wandered around the International Rose Test Garden to see about a million varieties of roses. We had lunch at a food truck pod where the wife and son tried a truck called “Fried Egg I’m in Love” (as seen on Somebody Feed Phil). I had a fantastic burrito from another truck. After lunch we wandered around the Alberta Arts District in Portland before picking up a few boxes of precious See’s Chocolates (unavailable on the East Coast).

We flew home on Tuesday so I could get back to work on Wednesday. The wife is still on summer vacation. Unfortunately, my car had a flat tire when I got home. I ordered tires at Costco but could NOT get an installation before Friday. So I worked the rest of the week from home.

On the weekend, we helped the daughter move into her new apartment … making us empty nesters! She found a great place that’s only about 15 minutes away, but closer to school and work for her. Very happy/proud of her. We also setup the room she vacated as our guest room over the weekend.

Anyway, I miss my kids but am also happy to start the next phase with the wife!
