Pulling stuff out of my head while and trying to keep things as “normal” as possible in the year 2020.

I’m still on the fence about whether 2020 is actually an insane year, or it just seems like an insane year because of the pandemic. Like, a pandemic is crazy enough, but are we just hypersensitive to anything else abnormal because of it? Or are the number of abnormal things actually higher this year. Dunno.

My contract ended and I spent most of last week just doing busy work and being on the alert for something to do. We’re waiting for some contract stuff to smooth out, so my company has me on overhead right now. Which means they want to keep me, but it also means I don’t really have anything to do right now … but could at any moment.

I used the “down time” to take care of some things around the house and take stock of things in my life right now. I’m reviewing my long term goals and doing some “nice to get done” tasks on my to-do list. I’ve been living my life in some form of limbo for the last two years on this contract. I’m exhausted and ready for it to just come to some sort of completion.

I started reading “The Shallows” this week which is all about how the internet is changing our actual brain chemistry/function. It’s pretty fascinating so far. It’s reinforcing why I want to limit my time on the internet. Especially breaking the social media habit and mindlessly surfing the internet.

Using the down time to do more cooking too. The wife started back full-time at work this week. She’s a teacher and the students don’t come back for a couple weeks yet, so it’s all planning and setup at the moment. But she’s super busy. What makes people feel better than food?! And cookies? So yeah, doing some of that too.

Not much else going on in life for me. Still shaking my head at how stupid some people can be about COVID-19, but trying to figure out better ways to deal with them than get angry and yell. As always, I’m a work in progress.

Stay safe all. Wear your masks. Wash your hands. Keep your social distance. I hope to see you all soon, so we can share a cup of coffee or something.
