Parade of the Wooden Soldiers

I went to Arlington National Cemetery to visit my Oma today. She passed away almost seven months ago. I got much more emotional than I expected to, if I’m honest. But her headstone is complete now … so it was a very nice visit.

There are things that keep popping up that remind me of her lately too … like she’s letting me know she’s still around. The one that warmed my heart most recently was an article about a collection of 78rpm records being digitized on archive.org. I was randomly searching the archive and stumbled upon “Parade of the Wooden Soldiers.” Oma used to play that song for me, back when she had her piano. Now I have her piano … and the sheet music for “Parade of the Wooden Soldiers.” Edit: I can’t seem to get the embed to work, so just head over and listen to the song, dagnabit!

I think I need to learn that song …
