More like Alt-Wrong

I’m a generally amicable person. I don’t hold grudges well, I’m friendly, I try to look at both sides of an issue objectively. What I’m trying to say is that I feel like I’m a pretty even-keeled person.

But there is one thing that melts my cheese … racial supremacists. The actions they take and the rights they think they have to incite violence all in the name of their message is beyond horrible.

Not once have I ever heard a rational, well thought argument for racial cleansing and/or nationalism. Never. It’s not possible.

This piece in the New York Times, “Undercover with the Alt-Right” is frightening. It’s good to read, but also leaves me feeling a little scared and hopeless. They sound so organized and there are enough uninformed and bigoted people in the world that their messages are getting some traction. How do we combat this? Anger and yelling just fuels their message.
Once I’ve regained some of my mental fortitude, maybe I’ll read the actual report from Hope Not Hate. Oof.
